Camille Capers (Celie) is thrilled to be making her Plaza Theatrical debut with The Color Purple! Professional credits include The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Esmeralda u/s) at Toby’s Dinner Theatre, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Titania/Hippolyta) at Actors Theatre of Columbus, and the workshop of The Last Gatekeeper (Ensemble) in New York City. She has also competed in several national vocal competitions, including the NATS National Music Theatre Competition at New York City’s Roosevelt Hotel, placing in the top 25 out of 200 contestants.
Moriah Carey (Church Lady #1) is a rising musical theatre major at Kent State university. She is originally from Pennsylvania and graduated from Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter school in 2020. She grew up always singing in the church, which is where she found her love for singing. She has recently performed in BKLYN at Porthouse Theater last summer as Miss Paradice, and just finished out SpongeBob the Musical as Pearl. NéLasheé (pronounced nay-lŭuh-shay, Church Lady #3) is a former member and Musical Director of the Harlem Gospel Choir. She has performed in many regional theater productions and has been considered for many Broadway and National Tour principal roles, such as Celie in The Color Purple (Broadway & Tours) and Joanne in RENT (National Tours). Her favorite roles to date are Effie in Dreamgirls & Sofia in The Color Purple. NéLasheé has captivated audiences all over the world, with show-stopping performances and she would like to thank Plaza Theatrical Productions for the opportunity to play again, in one of her favorite productions, The Color Purple.
Najee Rawls (Mister) is a 21-year-old performer who lives in Mansfield, Ohio. He is excited to be portraying the role of Mister! In his free time he enjoys playing piano and singing to his son. He has been in 43 musical theatre productions, with this being his 44th; he is extremely excited to be back in NYC doing what he loves to do. He wants to invite you to sit back, relax and enjoy the show!
Aniya Simmons (Church Lady #2) is from Oriental, NC. She grew up singing in church, and has always loved performing. Aniya has been doing theatre since middle school and loves being on stage. She is an ambassador for Make-A-Wish, and graduated from the American Musical Dramatic Academy with an Associates degree. She is thankful to be able to share her talent and share this story.
Joshua Shepard (Preacher / Guard) graduated from Wilkes University in 2019 with a BFA in Musical Theatre and Dance. He is a New York-based actor who has since then performed in Escaped to Margaritaville (Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre), A Musical Christmas Carol (Round Barn Theatre), Romeo and Juliet (Lexington’s Children Theatre), Resilience (AEA Stage Reading), and the 150th anniversary for Cedar Point Entertainment.

Vanessa Triplett (Olivia/Swing/ u/s Nettie, Squeak, Church Ladies) is a recent AMDA graduate and current singer/actress originally from Galesburg, Illinois. Her favorite past roles include Signe in Church Basement Ladies, and Miss Andrews/Bird Woman/Miss Cory in Mary Poppins. Most recently Vanessa was a featured singer in Young, Gifted & Black, presented at Don’t Tell Mamas in Manhattan. When she is not performing Vanessa enjoys playing her didgeridoo and exploring New York.

Carter Calvert: is best known for originating her role in the Tony®-nominated Broadway musical It Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues alongside Grammy® winning jazz vocalist Gregory Porter. The New York Times wrote, “Carter Calvert effervesces: her voice echoes chimes in the night” and “Her smoldering grip on “Fever” is positively dangerous”.
She is featured on the cast recording and starred in the show’s national tour. Other tours include the title role in Always Patsy Cline opposite Sally Struthers, the featured role of ‘Grizabella’ in the Broadway national touring company of CATS, the European tour of Smokey Joe’s Café, and an international tour of Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway. (John Gustafson) returns to the stage at Plaza where he was seen last year in the role of Cervantes/Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha. Regional credits include The Golden Bride and The Sorceress with the National Yiddish Theatre (the former garnering 2 Drama Desk Award nominations), Hairspray, Sweeney Todd, Fiddler on the Roof, The Light in the Piazza (Carbonell Award nomination, Best Actor in a Musical), Sunset Boulevard, Mamma Mia! Phantom, The Music Man, and South Pacific. Bruce also wears another ‘hat’ here at Plaza, where he serves as the Artistic Director. He is grateful to work again with his special ‘leading lady’ Cindy Baker, and for the opportunity to reveal his hidden ‘grumpy’ side to the world! Bruce dedicates this performance to the memory of his beloved Mom, whose support, encouragement, guidance, music, and love continues to lead him along a life-path that has been rewarding in every way. (Sam Carmichael) was born and raised in Queens and LI, NY. Anthony has been acting for over 30 years. Trained at Herbert Berghoff Studios in NYC, he has performed in many Black Box theater productions in NYC, as well as straight play productions on LI. Most recently Playing Lt. Shrank in West Side Story at the Argyle Theatre in Babylon NY. Other credits include day player roles in many of the NY-based Soap Operas, as well as lead and supporting roles in local independent films.
(Tanya) is thrilled to head to Greece for her debut with Plaza Theatricals. He studied acting, musical theatre, and directing at Western Connecticut State University, Circle in the Square, Brooklyn College, Roosevelt University. Chris is a member of SAG/AFTRA, SAFD, and is on the theatre faculty at LIU Post, CUNY & SUNY.
(Bill Austin) is thrilled to be a part of Mamma Mia! with Plaza Theatricals this summer! Past credits include the Hans Zimmer LIVE Tour with the Dallas Chamber Choir, Shrek: The Musical (Ensemble, Shrek U/S) with Craft Productions, and The Spitfire Grill (Joe) at Oklahoma State University. (Eddie / Ensemble) is ecstatic to be making his New York debut! Originally from Colorado, Gable graduated last May and received his BFA in Musical Theater from The Boston Conservatory at Berklee. He was most recently in the Pre-Broadway run of Sing Street at the Huntington Theater in Boston. Other credits include Parade (Frankie Epps/Young Soldier) with Moonbox in Boston. (Petra) made her off-Broadway debut as Mrs. Patrick in A Man of No Importance with Bookworm Theatrics at the Alvin Ailey Theater. This past year Amanda filmed lead roles in a feature film, Through Eyes of Grace, and in two short films, Lambkin, and Dear Hallmark. Stage roles include Cathy in The Last Five Years, Guenevere in Camelot, Amalia in She Loves Me, Maria in The Sound of Music, and Cinderella in Into the Woods.

(Sparky) always considered themselves an argyle person until this show. If Cody were between a rock and a hard place, that would technically be a tie in the game of Rock, Paper, Scissors and Cody looks dashing in ties – so that’s a win in their book. Jerquintez has also been a part of Charleston Stages production of Bright Star, Murder on the Orient Express and Kinky Boots as Lola, The Revival Theatre Production of The Color Purple, and lnterlakes Theatre production of Sister Act. His most recent performance was with the Elf National Tour where he played the Store Manager. He enjoys performing any chance he gets and loves to inspire others to never give up. He graduated Marymount Manhattan College with a BFA in Musical Theatre and works as a music director in various theatre companies throughout New Jersey.
